Ray’s the Dead, developed by Ragtag Studio is hitting Kickstarter, looking for $75,000 to take their game to the next level. Heavily inspired by Pikmin the game gives you control of Ray, a zombie with a glowing lightbulb on top of his head that allows him to control other zombies. Sorry if you thought this was going to be your average zombie shoot-em-up.
The money would go to improve the soundtrack by hiring Jake Kaufman (Double Dragon, Shovel Knight and DuckTales). The sound design would be done by Ben Crossbones (Tony Hawk Pro Skater and Organ Trail). Matt and Ed from Twisted Pixel would handle the writing and others would be brought in to improve the game.
The co-founder of Ragtag told Joystiq they could finish the game without the extra money but it would be a “pared down version.”
I’m surprised to find out the game hasn’t had any funding, because I played the game at PaxEast and I was impressed with the experience. It’s not every day a studio can make a zombie game fresh and original but Ragtag has started and is looking for help to finish it.
Check out their Kickstarter page and help them out. Ray’s the Dead will be on PC, Mac, and Linux by the end of the year.
